We're considering starting a new community project if any of you are interested, but we need your ideas. It can be anything, from a giant mecha ,to a town or building from a movie or game, a famous landmark from the real world, or anything in between. Nothing too big though, no more star destroyers Here are a couple of our ideas to get you started. The Moscow Kremlin (Suggested by ohno) Clock Town (Suggested by me) Skyrim Villages (Suggested by Belgeran) Atlantis (Suggested by me) Let me know what you guys want to build and we'll have a vote.

On a single build it would mean deviding the build up into sections and people have different building styles/talents, therefore one section could look completely different to the one it is right next to. This is why the majoritry of the builds we suggested compose of more than a single build.

I like the Skyrim Villages Idea, *cough cough* My Castle In Gallifrey was sorta modeled off of Whiterun's castle.

If we did the Skyrim Holds each group of people with there own build style could work on there own hold. Then with in the mini groups each person could have there own part. Different parts like (Castle, Shops, Housing, and Roads) Making a really nice build with every ones different build style being apart of it.

There are many different versions of atlantis, the picture i posted isn't necessarily the one we would build. I'm thinking we have a big building in the middle, surrounded by many smaller buildings connected by glass walk ways so players don't have to swim so far.
Let me see if i can find a good picture, I'll post back later.
edit: Just looked at the one you posted bel, it looks extremely complicated xD

I think it would look better without any kind of bubble, but the buildings need to be air tight of course.

Despite the fact I don't like the game, or the series it's part of, I think Skyrim Villages is the most versitile option there and with what loks to be Hay BLOCKS coming (in 1.6) I think it's something we could easily do. It would only require standard building techniques.

I've never played the game, but the skyrim village idea seems a little too simple, aside from the castle (or what ever it is in the background), it just looks like a typical town you would see on an average minecraft server. But that's just me, please don't hate me D:
I'll give this thread a day or two to see if anyone else has any ideas, then I'll add a poll.

it's only a simple as you make it. You can add a lot of detail in just a standard village home if you want, and that's what's so great about it. The designs are "simple enough" for people to be able to make varying quality ones which is how a real village is like due to wealth.

That was the best overview of Whiterun I could get, unless we choose a different one as they have pretty different styles.. o.o Windhelm.. Riften Markarth The other ones aren't that different to mention.

One other plus side of Skyrim Village is for people like me, (I don't know if anyone else can do this) , but i also have an Xbox with Skyrim making it really easy for me to look at the city where every needs be to get a great amount of detail, A little more then the picture.

Indeed. I would think many would be familiar with either the build styles or the actual layout of some cities. Which is always pretty good

i think riften would be really fun to make.
so depending on what we do. if people have access to get screenshots of above, sides, behind, front, and inside shots of the stuff, that'd be reaaaally great

I found that video that shows a good overview of the town. But I, and probably some other members could always get specific screenshots in parts of the town if needed.

Riften is probably the best option, since it won't require any major terraforming, but i really like the way markarth looks. Should we have another poll?

Markarth would probably be most complicated with the landscape, as it's built into a mountain...but both are good options.. And this better shows Markarth. The picture I posted was probably the worst I could get >.>

We could make riften full scale no problem, but markarth, not so much. With no mods, the mountains would be through the clouds, and so would the big building in the middle x3

Just so you guys know, we'll start this when the map is reset. I initially planned on starting immediately, and then having what ever we got done moved to the new map, but to be honest, i don't want to make zion move anything else x3
Also, lets go ahead and have another vote. I'm not sure how or if i can add another poll without deleting the other one, so if you guys would, leave a reply with the name of the town from skyrim you want to build.
I'm voting for riften. I like the layout and simplicity of it, it really blends in with minecraft.

one thing that's going to be interesting will be all the "can you please WE this for me" though i personally don't world edit my buildings much .-. anywaaays.
things that will need to be considered:
uno) for easiest way of doing this, creative would be nice to have for everyone to use. This could be a problem without multiverse so we'll need to plan for in case we don't have ze multiverse. Filling chests with materials to use would be possible, as long as we have LB, steal stuff for personal use = earn applicable amount of warnings and blah. using signs wouldn't be that great because then people could click away at the sign and have no real way of tracking that.
zwei) land to set aside, this will take big land so where put?
three) scale. my opinion would be to scale it to such a size that the largest structure can have around the same detail structurally. and to make it so the project doesn't take forever to make since if it does, people will lose interest in the project.
4) quality control/project management. by project management i mean making sure stuff is where it should be in respect to its surroundings and making sure that things that need to be worked on are being worked on. could also deal with if people need Help or similar situation.
these considerations are for any of the suggested projects as they apply to all. input on suggestions for plugin-related issues or any other problems that might arise while working on or planning for the project would be lovely.
