2 Tributes from each rank group except guest and possibly builder 18 people must be put into a random area far from civilization. The goal is to be the last man standing once you die you stay dead no coming back. There is a tall monument in the middle (the cornucopia) which houses many high level class items (stacks of food, weapons, armor, ect) You must do what it takes to survive you must stay within the games or else you are disqualified and killed. The further away from the cornucopia the less valuable the items get. Remember this is to make the capitol happy so do your best and last of all no mods.

Mods as in Modifications, not Moderators. Also, where will you get 18 players, and are you setting up the environment manually?

eh the player amount could be however many people want to play. The only manual environment feature would be the cornucopia a large mountain like structure with many levels and caves that hold various items. For the most fun it would be nice to have the games set up in a section of the map where 2 or more biomes intersect.

At first I had no idea what this was but now that I've seen the film, I'd like to compete. Could we make the games so that they last round about 1-2 hours so we don't have people leaving and having to go to bed?

Or as an alternative to shortening the time of play to accommodate sleep, players can instead carry a sign with them that they have to hide before signing off. If another player finds the sign, that can count as finding the player in their sleep and dispatching them accordingly by picking up the sign.
1-2 hours is kind of short for a game that could benefit from slow tactful actions.

I agree with you where 1-2 hours can possibly be too short, but increasing game time so far up to days and preferably even weeks will take away the improvisation and 'spur of the moment' aspect of the game. It would make it either too slow, not as fun and maybe even too easy. Games that last only several hours would hold a higher chance of having a successful game because players won't have to leave and other players wouldn't have to fill in for people. Games would also be flawed because if too many people leave, then the game would have to be put on hold or players could use the time people are away too treat themselves to some really good items. If games lasted only a few hours, then the success rate of the game would be higher, it would be a lot more challenging for participants and it would be stable and consistent. People would have to overcome more challenges and I would like that. If games lasted days with people leaving, then people could just wait until players leave and nobody could stop them from taking advantage of the current situation. It would be unstable due to the constant leave rate and people wouldn't know where to pick up from. If they died, then the player who left wouldn't be allowed to re-enter. I'd prefer the idea of a game going for only several hours (a max of 3 or 4).

fire spread and explosions would have to be turned on in order for things to work

We gonna have the item sponsor thing? Where if on the forums someone accumulates a certain number of "Votes" they get an item?

i have a feeling this would need to be done in a new world but multiverse isn't updated yet D: all of these are great ideas so keep coming up with more.
it would be nice to also have a lack of food slowly kills you plugin as well and that it's harder to regain health.

Good idea to have a new map. We can use the alternative of going really far away from where everybody is, and prepare the land there. Have a warp set to it.

How big would the map be? Would we add fences for a border so nobody accidentally runs to a completely different place?

Having fence as a border would be too simple... Maybe fences on top of 2 or 3 cobblestone high walls?

I'd like to participate as either Tribute or map builder, or both depending on how large the map ends up being.
In either case, map builders will need access to creative mode if any serious work is expected to get done.

I saw a series of videos on Youtube from captainsparkles (Who I am subscribed to) of a minecraft hunger games. I like the way they did it (Except the giving of items and spawning mobs at the end) and it would be a good way to go about doing this. Also that map would be nice since it offers places to hide and fight.

I watched that series i must say it was really messed up though... if we do this we need to make traps/chests/very occasional gifts/hidden stuff instead of stuff raining down then dying from eggs.

I think it'd be cool to have a separate level in SMP (MultiVerse needed) and use the map which has been used in those series.

The map is cool (as long as we get to mess with it a little prior to the game :3) adding traps and such.

eh, we'll see how many people want to play. The hard part will be getting everyone to be on at the same time.

The hard part will be waiting for SMP to get back up. I miss the Hawknet community and classic just isn't the same...

We'll be looking into getting better internet on Tuesday, but from there, it may take a little while to install and activate. It will definitely be a boost from our current speeds.

Well, I could run a default Minecraft SMP server for the hunger games. Obviously, it won't be ran 24/7 but just for 1 game of this map would be enough.

Once the SMP server is up and running smoothly again, I suggest we start doing this seriously because it's too awesome to not do.

the fun, has been doubled!
@matrix: i see what you did there XD realistically we'd prolly arrange it every month or so maybe less. like most things this will prolly be fairly popular then it will die out but it will still be something we'll want to do as it's good for the community and it's plenty of fun.

My idea is that we wait for the new 1.3 update to come out and turn on server textures that will have invisible bedrock therefore making us able to create a barrier.... that is INVISIBLE.

egh, i see no need for it. The hunger games had nothing like that so it could defeat the purpose.
