Aparently, because the police shot someone who branded a gun and was threatening to shoot people, there have been riots in London over the past three days.

It already spread to Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, and Bristol last night, and this afternoon it's spreading to Salford and the centre of Manchester (around 12 miles away from myself and Chris).

They're all aparently communicating and spreading the word via BlackBerry's Instant Messaging service, and BlackBerry are refusing the shut down that service, so they're only going to use it to spread it further.

What are your thoughts on the topic? D:

-Back on Topic-
Luckily, Im on Holiday in Poland, coming back on Monday. I don't know why BlackBerry won't shut down BBM? I live 20 miles West of London, and I hope the riots will be controlled till the Date above...

As I heard from my Brother (He's not on Holiday, he stayed at Home), He is on his own in the House (He's 17 :P) and he actually says that he is scared, I am not suprised, *, Murders everywhere as well...

I read a bit into the topic, and aparently RIM (Blackberry) are cooperating with police, but police are considering weather to shutdown the service. So disregard the comment I made earlier. :D

You mean whether to shutdown the service? or are they literally going to use the weather to do it? :O

It doesn't happen "that" often, besides although they don't know if he shot at the police he did have a gun with a live round in the chamber ready to be fired. Its not really a riot either its just uncontrollable looting, they aren't really rioting about anything hence all the texts being sent round say things like "come meet up at such a place, they'll be loads of free stuff". Albeit they write it with the grammar of a special person who has never heard of English and wouldn't know what a grammar was if it bit them, so its more like "fr3 stf at wur wez gunna b3 n mess dem pigs up innit!"

Doesn't sound to me like the riots actually have a point... some people just bored and looking for stuff to loot? Police shooting a guy who was threatening with a gun doesn't seem like a legit reason to go crazy.

Actually Xerox it shows that people, when faced with an strenuous situation, they will revert to subsistence and lose all rationale in favor of meeting certain "Requirements". Some people's "requirements" are different than others. When a resident's requirements are met they will cease all hostility and revel in what they have. If said needs are not met than they will abandon civility and do whatever it takes to meet said needs. These needs are localized on material possessions, usually focusing on things that they have never had. This need to objects comes back to a human's need of discovery, if you haven't had a car (or something else) before, you'll probably go to no ends to get said car.

This is just a theory of mine.

That doesn't explain why they are just looting and rioting. I mean they have an extremely large welfare and nationalized health care system over their, don't they? That, by definition, should provide for a lot of the basic needs of humanity.

To me this seems to happen a lot when too many people are unemployed with no hope of getting a job. They get restless and violent because they are unhappy with their situation.
