Several companies are planning an Internet Blackout on 18th Jan to oppose SOPA.
Mojang is among them and has CONFIRMED a shut down of all thier services on this day, so Minecraft will not be availible either. D:

The purpose of this is to show what the internet will be like if SOPA and/or PROTECT IP act pass.

As far as Minecraft goes, our Classic server will still be up and joinable. However you will have to either, resume if using WoM, WoM's server list should still be active as it uses a different service or contact one of our Administration team for a direct connect link however this will only through WoM. It is a short space of time to do those things though so your best bet at the moment is to be using WoM.

SMP should be unaffected, as long as the part of Mojang's services that verify accounts is still active. Which it hopefully should since if they terminate that then paying customers will be denied access to services they have paid for. If they do switch that off then you will still be able to run SMP in offline mode, meaning that your username will not be verified. This will mean that you will not be able to join servers that require verified usernames, if this happens then we will look at disabling username verification and temporarily operating on a whitelist.

All of Hawknet and Hawkserv services will be up and running as usual, including our Terraria server and if we have enough demand we may throw up a mumble or other chat service.
