Unfortunatly we're not a support team for Mojang. You'll need to contact Mojang's support. Their forums will be the best place since others may be experiencing it first.
The 'black screen' issue is commonly known when you have installed a mod, but not deleted the META_INF folder. Rename your minecraft.jar to minecraft.jar.bak and see if it works when you update it again.

The best thing I can think of would be to delete your .minecraft, then open beta and log in. That will give you vanilla minecraft again with nothing conflicting.

^^What techy said. Worst case scenario, you just uninstall minecraft, redownload the file from minecraft.net, and start fresh.
