funny thing about general discussion is that you can ask or talk about anything... even homework :!: anyway, i was wondering if there was an easier way to do this: -5d - 24= -4(d + 6) - d .

My teacher offered me some help but she always gets way to technical and i don't understand what she is saying  Anyway, just needed alittle help with this kinda thing. Mrs. Vanderslice is giving out a big test at the end of the year primarily based on equations and inequalities.

well first you distribute the -4 so you get -5d-24=-4d-24-d
combine like terms: -5d-24=-5d-24
add 5d: -24=d-24
+24: 0=d

It's basic algebra. I can help with a ton of stuff if you need it.

That's basic? I have a long journey ahead of me then...

some basic things i do in my head in algebra 2:

(-32y^15)^1/5

6√81x^4y^8

(23x^3+13x^2-8x) (14x^4+-10x^2) <--- this one i can't do in my head

subtract -5d from both sides
Simplify the equation after
multiply each side by 1/5
The equation will now be isolated
d = ?/? -> use calculator to translate fraction to number
