Steam's databases were breached during a mild attack on their forums last Sunday. It's highly recommended to change your Steam passwords, 'secret question' and likely email address. Although the passwords are hashed, they may have been made publicly available.

It's pretty easy to crack hash's though
Like i can crack an MD5 in 10-20 minutes...

The method used to encrypt the passwords on Steam have not been disclosed. Rumors have it that they're Salted and Hashed.

And yes, many different things can be cracked, which is why we're saying to change your passwords :3

No Steam have admitted that its gone further than that, and encrypted credit card information as well as other encrypted passwords may have been stolen although they aren't 100% sure what has been taken at this point. Think PSN all over again :3
