I've been talking to some people on classic and I've suggested this new command to them and its been a great success.

the idea would be called /mid and what it does is find the middle block(s) of two blocks you put down.
it would be very handy when your trying to find a place to put your door on a house or doing symmetrical builds. please leave comments saying whether you would like it or not :D
thanks

I'm all for this idea, and would find it handy myself if/when I build on Classic. X3

It would also teach me about block placements in code too, and reading and writing to the block array which builds levels.

A few questions though:

1). Should the blocks be permanent (part of the map, updated for everyone) or work similarly to /highlight (removes on /reveal and is only seen by you)?

2). What material should the blocks generated consist of? Bare in mind using something like glass in a stone wall is good, but using glass in a glass wall is not.

maybe you could incorporate both of those suggestions in by making sub-commands, for example you could have the /mid so it places the same block type as the one you are using and also have maybe /mid highlight which would just highlight the middle point, which would work similarly to the /highlight command as you said before?

That's quite a good idea. I'll see how feasable it is. ^^

Why not do it so that you can decide what the highlighted block appears to be that way it can be seen on any surface that you build.

Yeah, what Haza says is probably the best. I can take snippets from the Gun code too (as that creates blocks of the block you're holding when you destroy bits of the target).

So we've determined the latter question I asked above, but what about the first? Should the block placed consist of permanent blocks, or temporary blocks?

It might be best if it was temporary blocks such as the ones used for /fly or /gun. Just so you don't have to reveal if you use it to often.
