I have an idea for a new command similar to train, but instead of a train, you could move a small object like a boat around a lake using normal water as a "track". Or you could move a tank or car (50 blocks max) around a map using stone blocks as a track. To "activate" objects, you would select them like cuboid.

Now obviously this would be limited to small objects, and we could create a level dedicated to testing active objects called "Sandbox" (I know, I'm not very good with names...) for blockmason+.

I don't even know if something like this would be possible, but i just thought I'd throw it out there.

Sounds pretty good, though it might cause tons of lag.

If we limit the number of blocks to 100 or lower, i don't think the lag would be that bad, but it would be a problem if we had too many active objects on one map. We could always set the command to hop+ if it becomes a problem.

except that knowing how people are everyone would want one so it would have to be hop+ from the get go and we would have to say neigh if people asked for an op to put one down for them. I don't really see a point in it as it's just something that goes around.

Sounds like an awesome idea if it could work. Another thing that might help with the lag and people asking is county's suggestion of map specific commands. You could have it hop+ normally but blockmason+ (or whatever the rank is) on sandbox.

I think he means the number of track blocks. :3

No i mean 100 blocks linked together, not the track. But now that i think about it, 50 blocks is a more realistic limit.

It may sound stupid but you have to imagine the possibilities, you could make an elevator go up and down, or make a submarine dive under water.

I like the idea, I think it's cool :D

The only problem is, I think you mean you'd want a build, to become a vehicle. This is very difficult via Minecraft due to the way Minecraft can move objects. The server generates blocks in a linear pattern (from 0,0,0 to the maps limit) and so, depending on if the server is under load, the 'image' will not look great when it's updated like this. Things like elevators won't work either due to the blocks not being a physical entity, and not moving you up with it. It would also take a lot of Trig calculations, which I'm not 100% at yet. :3

I could make other "train" variants, like boat (wooden block, with water or something track) or car, with coloured wool and obsidian as track. These will be relatively easy to do, however we don't want to have a repeat of Train, where it was spammed to hell and overused by looking bad in maps. :3

I figured it would be hard to do, but i thought i might as well ask :P

Boats and cars made out of a single block would be cool though. All in favor say i
